Government appealed Traders should come forward to purchase the Groundnut
The Government have issued orders for setting up of a Groundnut Purchasing Centre at Wanaparthy. On this, Sri S. Niranjan Reddy, Vice-Chairman, Telangana State Planning Board conveyed his heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation to the Chief Minister Sri K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Sri T. Harish Rao, Minister for Irrigation & Marketing.
In this connection, Sri S. NIranjan Reddy said, that with the various Irrigation Projects taken up by the Telangana State Government and also with supply of subsidized Sprinklers and Drip Systems to the farmers wherever required, there has been extensive farming of Groundnut crop in Wanaparthy District. Wanaparthy secured first rank in India last year in Groundnut production. This year also there is excess Groundnut production in Wanaparthy District. The lands of Wanaparthy District are suitable for Groundnut crop.
He also requested that Government and Traders should come forward to purchase the Groundnut. He further informed that for increasing the quality and quantity of Groundnut exports, an assaying lab for detection of Aflatoxin in Groundnut has been felt necessary. Accordingly, the Government have sanctioned an amount of Rs.20.00 lakhs towards establishment of Assaying Lab in Wanaparthy Market Yard.
Sri S. Niranjan Reddy also informed that efforts are going on for getting sanctioned a Groundnut Research Centre in Wanaparthy and the related file is in Delhi under process.
