The final rituals of the influential Hindu spiritual leader Shankaracharaya Jayendra Saraswati done with an holy abhisekham bath with milk and honey. It is performed in the main hall of the mutt, followed by chanting of auspicious Vedic hymns by Bhramin priests.
A big bamboo material is prepared in which the body of the Jayendra Saraswathi was seated in a posture to the annexe and lowered into a 7into 7 feet burial pit. The pits were filled with herbs including Vasambu, salt and sandalwood. Jayendra Shankaraya’s body carried to ‘’Brindhavan Annexe’’. The 69 th pontiff of Kanchi Kamakshi Peetham Jayendra Saraswathi is been laid to rest besides his guru Sri Chandrashekarendra Saraswathi Samadhi.
Tamilnadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit also participated in the burial ceremony by offering flowers. Massive ardent devotees came from far away places and gathered together to view the ceremonial proceedings. Indian PM Narendra Modi also expressed anguish and uttered that there is a huge loss to Hindu culture. nobody can potray that role.Vice President Venkaiah Naidu quoted that his contribution for the welfare of mankind in promoting spirituality will always be rendered as an inspiration to other yogic saints. Along with him Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan and CM KCR also expressed their grief over the sudden demiseof Swamiji. South Indian celebrities like RajaniKanth, KamalHassan, Suriya, Ajith and Vikram also conveyed their sadness over swamiji’s death. Indian National Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Varun Gandhi and several BJP politicians Sushma Swaraj, Smriti Irani, Amit Shah also tweeted heartful condolences in twitter .
Devotees considered Jayendra Saraswathi as a huge follower of Lord Shiva. He potrayed a significant role in the development of Kanchi Peetham. The 82 year old spiritual guru of Hindus passed away at Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu due to massive cardiac arrest on 28th February 2018. Now his junior Vijayendra Saraswathi will be regarded as the head of the 69 th Shankaraya Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham
He was born on July 18th 1935 Thanjavur in Tamilnadu.His original name was Subramanyam,his mother name Saraswathi Ammal and father Mahadeva Iyer.
