Swami Vivekananda is a world famous Hindu monk commonly known as Narendranath Dutta. He is considered a great spiritual leader as he acquired vast knowledge about different subjects. Vivekananda worked very hard to render his services for the poor and needy, his teachings have been an inspiration to many youngsters that is the reason every year on January 12th is grandly celebrated as ‘’ National Youth Day’’ in India. He was born in a Bengali family to Vishwanath Dutta an attorney and Bhuvaneshwari a homemaker.

From his childhood he showed lot of admiration towards traditions and cultures of Hinduism apart from it he was very active in sports, gymnastics, wrestling and body building. He lead a lifestyle with simple strategies. He was well versed with all the Hindu Vedas and Upanishads. Swami Vivekananda came across the adversities of life that a common man faced and decided to dedicate his entire life to relieve pain from the suffering.

He played a significant role in keeping Hinduism on the map of world religions, later he founded Vedanta society and toured UK to preach Hindu spirituality, he also became noteworthy for his stupendous speech at Parliament of World‘s Religion which began with My Brothers and Sisters of America’’ for which he received huge round of applause and standing ovation from the massive crowd. Swami Vivekananda was responsible for introducing Vedanta and Yoga to the western world in addition to it he made Hinduism as a major world religion during 19th century. He also imparted many speeches, seminars about Hinduism and its teachings to UK, US, England and Europe.

 He was a great disciple of Ramakrishna Parama Hamsa and laid the foundation of RK Mission at Belur Math in West Bengal. The objective of this mission was to serve the poor and the needy and also to conduct social service activities like running schools, colleges, hospitals through conference, seminars and workshops to initiate relief and rehabilitation work across the country. He taught the entire nation how it can be bound together by a feeling of humanity and brotherhood. Vivekanada has put forward a horizontal bridge between the culture of east and west, he interpreted the Hindu scriptures and philosophy to western people. On July 4th 1902 he woke up early in the morning and taught pupils about Vedas and returned back to ashram to meditate and urged nobody to disturb him. The next day he passed away and attained a Maha Samadhi.

Aims and Objectives of RK Mission-  The main objective of this mission was to impart fundamental and educational ideas for life building, man- making, character-building,  by mixing best elements of east and the west. Vivekananda wanted to expand his wings in the fields of biotechnology, microbiology, information, communication, science and technology keeping the original vision intact. Rk Mission is an Indian Religious Organisation which forms the core of a worldwide spiritual movement known as ‘’ Vedanta Movement’’.
